DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team used a dominate first half against the Buena Vista University Beavers to roll to a 3-0 shutout victory on Senior Day.
Before the start of the men's game, the Spartans celebrated the careers of 10 men's soccer seniors for all they have contributed to the success of the program over the last several seasons.
A fitting start for the Spartans on Senior Day as
Gavin Wooldridge scored the game's first goal 20 minutes in off a double assist from
Zach Floss and
Giorgos Vallianatos. Floss then got in on the scoring action in the 33rd minute to double the Spartans lead at 2-0.
Michael Poitry assisted Floss on the goal.
Jose Serra continued the scoring frenzy in the first half, less than a minute later as both
Mario Meier and Floss assisted the goal.
The Spartans dominated the box score as they got a total of 25 shots off today against the Beavers with nine shots on goal. The Spartans held a 12-3 advantage in corner kicks as well. Goalkeeper duties were split with
Matt Marchiori picking up the win, playing the first half and recording one save.
Christoffer Rastock played the final half and secured two saves.
The Spartans move to 5-10-2 overall and 2-4-1 in conference play.

The Spartans will face the Luther College Norse in the final regular season game of the year. Tuesday nights match will be in Decorah, Iowa and is set to start at 7:30 p.m. from Carlson Stadium.
