Spartans Fall After Late Goal by Storm

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team fell to Simpson College Storm on the road Wednesday night after a late goal by the Storm gave them the victory. Zach Floss scored the lone goal for the Spartans.

The Storm scored the games first goal in the 23rd minute to take the early lead, but Floss scored the equalizer for the Spartans 11 minutes later off a penalty kick. Nearing a 1-1 draw late in the game, the Storm scored the game-winning goal with 1:44 left on the clock.

Both Floss and Mario Meier finished the game with two shots on goal, with Eddie Papis having a shot on goal off the bench. Matt Marchiori had his highest save total of the season with 11 saves and eight of them coming in the final 45 minutes of play. His 11 saves are the first time he has hit the double-digit save mark this season.

The Spartans now sit at 4-10-2 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play.
