ADRIAN, Mich. - For the first time ever, the University of Dubuque men's hockey team traveled to the state of Michigan to play collegiate hockey where they faced the #2 ranked Adrian College Bulldogs. The Spartans scored in the opening period, as Adrian scored multiple goals in all three periods to defeat the Spartans.
After trailing by a goal in the early minutes of the game,
Phil Schader knotted the score at 1-1 off assists from
Nate Holm and
Ben Tarlton at the 14:59 mark of the first period. The Bulldogs added seven unanswered goals with two more in the first, two in the second period, and three in the third.
Chris Curr was in goal for the entire 60 minutes and was able to save 44 total shots.
Patrick Toomey had the best night on faceoffs going 11-20.
James Eng had three shots on the night with
Nick Wieben and Toomey each recording two shots. The duo of
Tyler Alexander and
Brandon Rossetti had five and three blocked shots respectively on the defensive end.
The Spartans move to 1-16-2 overall and 1-12 in conference play.
