WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque #17-ranked men's wrestling team faced top competition at the 2024 American Rivers Conference Duals held at the Wartburg Pod on Saturday. UD opened the day against top-ranked Wartburg College Knights and dropped the dual by a 11-30 margin. Next, the Spartans faced #16 Central College Dutch and lost the dual 15-27. UD won the third dual against the Buena Vista University Beavers 43-4.

Two individuals went undefeated on the afternoon. #3-ranked Brady Koontz (125/133 lbs.) won by a major decision against Wartburg 11-0, won by a forfeit against Central, and won by a tech fall over BVU 15-0 in 4:19. Alonza Smiley (165 lbs.) won 3-1 over ##11-ranked Wartburg wrestler, won by a major decision 14-5 over Central, and won by a fall over BVU in 2:22.
