Box Score DECORAH, Iowa - The Spartans women's tennis split over the weekend and returned from the holiday break to open their 2023-24 American Rivers Conference season on Tuesday afternoon against the Luther Norse. UD lost to a tough Luther squad 0-9.
In doubles action, the combination of
Hayden Warner/Breann Kieliszweski lost 4-8 at #1 doubles. At #2 doubles,
Adriana Benavente/
Amelia Court lost 0-8 and at #3 doubles, Abby/Drost/
Qi Zhang lost 0-8.
Luther would sweep all the singles matches.
Hayden Warner lost at #1 singles 2-6, 1-6.
Adriana Benavente lost at #2 singles 2-6, 4-6.
Breann Kieliszewski at #3 singles lost 9-6, but fought back 3-6 in the second set.
Abby Drost lost #4 singles 0-6, 0-6.
Amelia Court lost #5 singles 0-6, 0-6.
Qi Zhang lost at #6 singles 0-6, 0-6.
The Spartans (1-2 overall, 0-1 in A-R-C) will travel to Illinois College on Saturday, Sept. 9 to play Westminster College (Mo.) at 1:00 p.m. before playing the hosts at 4:00 p.m. at Bellatti Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Ill. UD will host the Coe College Kohawks on Sept. 13 at 4:00 p.m. at Frank Farber Tennis Courts.
