Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Brandon Heckendorf

Men's Soccer Blanked by Raiders

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Sunday evening the University of Dubuque men's soccer team returned to Oyen Field for a second time this weekend. Originally, the Spartans were supposed to host Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) Raiders at 4:00 p.m. but due to the extreme temperatures game time was pushed back to a 6:30 p.m. start. The Spartans would fall to MSOE by a score of 4-0.

The first two shots of the game came from the Spartans forward Gavin Wooldridge just after the five minute mark. Later on the Spartans had another opportunity as a shot from Brandon Kaup hit off the top of the post. Neither team found the back of the net until the Raiders scored their first goal of the game with 15 minutes remaining in the first half as the Spartans trailed 1-0 heading into the break.

In the second half the Spartans and Raiders each had seven shots. However, three of the seven shots resulted in goals for MSOE. The Spartans had nine of their 14 corner kicks in the second half but could not capitalize on any. Goalkeeper Matt Marchiori played the full 90 minutes and recorded one save in the loss.

The Spartans totaled 14 shots on the night including three players with multiple. Gavin Wooldridge led the attack with four shots, including two shots on goal while Kaup also had four shots and Carson Kowalski with two.
