Qi Zhang lost 0-8.
The Spartans finished the afternoon on Frank Farber Tennis Courts cheering the #2 singles match of Benavente who lost the first set to Coe's Claudia Bilkey 3-6. She rallied back to win set two in a dominate 6-0. The other singles matches had finished when the match entered the tie break. She scored first and jumped out to a 5-3 lead before ending it 10-5 for UD's lone win on the afternoon.
Warner took three sets in last year's match and once again ended the day losing #1 singles 2-6, 1-6. Kieliszewski battled in the first set 4-6, and lost the second set 0-6 at #3 singles. Drost lost #4 singles 0-6, 2-6. Court lost #5 singles 2-6, 1-6 and Zhang lost #6 sngles 0-6, 0-6.
The Spartans (1-4 overall, 0-2 in A-R-C) will journey down the street next week to face the Loras College Duhawks on Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
