Baseball Defeats John Jay in Seven Innings, Remains Undefeated During Spring Break

DAVENPORT, Fla. - The University of Dubuque baseball team extended their winning streak after taking down John Jay College in seven innings by a final score of 12-0. 

Hot starts are what have been the key to success in the first six games of the season as the Spartans got two runs right away in the first inning from Parker Allen and Kyle Radi. The Spartans would score in every inning, but the sixth as they were able to control the entire game holding Jon Jay to only two hits. The Spartans have reached double digit run totals in four of their six games this season.

Hunter Hicks had himself a day going 4-4 from the plate with two stolen bases and made numerous plays at third base to stop Jon Jay from getting on base. Jake Cekander, Brandon Watkins, and Radi each had contributed two hits apiece in the victory. Cekander had a team-high four RBI's. 

Patrick Rafferty went 5.0 innings on the mound for the Spartans in the start recording eight strikeouts and only allowing two hits. Tyler Knight and Jet Crews came in for the final two innings in relief and pitched a hitless two innings. 

The Spartans move to 6-0 overall and 4-0 at the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational.
