AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The University of Dubuque baseball team got off to a great start over spring break as they took down Moravian 15-0 in the opening game of the 2023 Russmatt Central Florida Invitational. 

The Spartans came ready to play today putting up six runs in the opening frame. Two Spartans would be hit by pitches in the first inning and Cole Destefanis was able to take advantage doubling bringing in the first run of the game. Freshman Colin Husko would then open the game up with a three run shot giving the Spartans a 4-0 advantage. Patrick Rafferty would single later in the inning bring in two to make it 6-0 Spartans after one. The Spartans would add another run in the third and two in the fourth inning before exploding again in the fifth five more runs off four hits. The Spartans would tack on one final run in the sixth inning to lead 15-0 and getting the final three out in the top of the seventh to take their first game in Florida. 

The Spartans ended with 14 total hits and holding the opposition to only five throughout the seven innings. Husko ended the day going 3-4 with six RBI's. Aiden Sullivan went the full seven innings allowing one five hits, two walks, and striking out 11 to get his first victory of the season.
