DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's tennis team would split on Sunday, Feb. 19. UD captured a 7-2 victory over Lawrence University and fell to UW-La Crosse 0-9 in the double dual meet in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Spartans lost #1 doubles 6-8, but rallied to capture #2 by a 8-4 final and #3 doubles 8-4 to take an early 2-1 lead entering singles play. UD would sweep #1 thru #5 singles before losing a heartbreaking third set at #6 singles.
Bjarne Bachmann won #1 singles 6-1, 6-3,
Pedwar Castillo won the first set 7-5 and cruised through the second set 6-2 at #2 singles.
Rashuan Duck won #3 singles in a grueling long competitive set. He won 6-4 and lost 7-6 (5-7) before winning the tie--break 10-1.
Ryan Kiddle made quick work with a 6-0, 6-0 set at #4 singles.
Josh Husemann won 6-2, 6-2 at #5 singles.
Alexander Hardin lost #6 singles 6-2, 1-6, 10-12.
UD would lose the nightcap against the UW-La Crosse Eagles 0-9. In doubles play, UD lost #1 4-8, lost #2 by a 2-8 margin, and dropped #3 doubles 3-8.

Pedwar Castillo lost the first set 2-6 and lost 1-6 in the second at #2 singles.
Rashuan Duck lost #3 singles by 0-6, 1-6 final.
Ryan Kiddle lost 2-6, 2-6 at #4 singles.
Brady McIntyre lost 0-6, 0-6 at #5 singles.
Dawson Freese lost #6 singles 2-6, 0-6.
The Spartans return to action on March 18 when they host Augustana College on Frank Farber Tennis Courts at 11:00 a.m.
