Box Score DE PERE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team captured the 16th Annual Nicolet National Bank Tournament Championship hosted by St. Norbert College on Saturday night after beating the host St. Norbert College by a final of 83-73 and remain undefeated this season.

Named MVP of the tournament was Sam Kliburg. Joining him on the all-tournament team were teammates Jaylin McCants and Dylan Anderson. This was the first time the Spartans have played in the tournament. Kilburg and Anderson both finished with 20 points in the championship game. Kilburg was 7-12 from the field and 5-6 from beyond the arc. Anderson made 6-12 attempts from the field and sank 6-8 from the three point area. McCants struggled to score early after having some foul trouble, but rebounded in the second half and ended with 13 points along with Grady Thompson who was nearly perfect after sinking 4-5 attempts, 1-1 of three points, and 4-4 at the free throw line.

"St. Norbert ran a first class tournament and tonight was a great college basketball game. We played through some foul trouble and Dylan really kept us in the game in the first half. The second half we made a few adjustments and we were able to get going offensively and Sam took over. Sam ended with 9 assists and just one turnover and hit big shot after big shot in the second half and Grady was great off the bench. It was great bringing back a tournament championship against a very good team."

UD out rebounded the hosts 32-28 with Brock Simon grabbing six along with McCants. Kilburg led the way with assists, just missing out on a double-double with nine assists.

The Spartans will enjoy a short break before hosting the Wartburg College Knights in an American Rivers Conference match-up on Wednesday, Jan. 3 on Jon Davison Court in Stoltz Sports Center at 7:30 p.m.
