FOND DU LAC, Wis. - On Wednesday night the University of Dubuque women's basketball team cruised past the Marian University Sabres 69-41 on the road.
Tabria Thomas and
Megan Teal scored in double figures to lead the Spartans.
The Spartans would get their first basket from
Morgan Hawkins just over a minute into the game as they built a substantial lead that featured a 12-0 run that ultimately ended up being a 21-2 run to start the game. Through three quarters the Spartans only allowed 21 points and led by as much as 54-21 before subbing to the bench to finish the game.
Thomas led all scorers tonight with 15 points on 7-12 shooting and Teal added 12 points on 5-12 from the floor. In total, 13 Spartans scored in the game with 10 seeing double-digit minutes played. Leading rebounders were
Kaitlyn Powell with eight and Teal pulled seven boards.
The Spartans forced 21 Marian turnovers that led to 29 points for the Spartans. Securing 15 offensive rebounds, the Spartans turned those into 15 second chance points. With a big lead, the bench was able to produce for the Spartans as they accounted for 30 points including 15 in the final quarter.
The Spartans move to 2-1 on the season.
