DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team traveled across town for a conference matchup against the Loras College Duhawks. The Spartans fell to the hands of the Duhawks by a score of 3-1.
The Spartans controlled possession early on and recorded the first shot of the game from
Brandon Kaup but was saved by the Duhawk goalkeeper. After a foul by
Josh Aboagye inside the box, Loras took advantage of the penalty shot and found the back of the goal for the 1-0 lead. The Duhawks extended their lead with two more goals in the first half as the Spartans trailed 3-0 heading into the break. Through one half of play the Spartans attempted one more shot than Duhawks with 10.
Both teams were kept quiet offensively in the second half until the Spartans broke through with a goal in the late minutes. Gavin Wooldrige received a pass from
Drew Wisdom and scored his second goal of the season as the Spartans lost 3-1.Â
On the night the Spartans had a total of 15 shots. Five different Spartans recorded multiple shots including Wooldridge, Kaup, Aboagye,
Jakub Youngstrom, and
Christian Campbell.
Christoffer Rastock got the start in goal again as he recorded 3 saves in 90 minutes of action.Â
The Spartans are now 4-7-1 and 2-2 in A-R-C play.
