MOORHEAD, Minn. - The University of Dubuque women's hockey made their official debut on Saturday against the Concordia Moorhead Cobbers and would be the first to score in the game at 3:34 in the second period. UD's
Lauren Jeffery scored off an assist from
Cassidy Becia for the school's first ever goal for the new program. The Cobbers would score the final six points to win 6-1 over the Spartans.
The two teams played scoreless in the first period. UD had a pair of shots during a power-play at the 10:00 minute mark. UD would be called for a penalty shortly after and
Savannah Wuitschick would make two saves to keep the match scoreless. During the game UD had four shots during power-plays while the hosts scored three goals in nine power-plays opportunities. UD was 10-45 in faceoffs with
Chloe Byma winning 5-17 and
Olivia Hodges 4-18 attempts.
Cassidy Becia led with two shots and had an assist for a point.

Lauren Jeffery all had a shot in the loss. The Spartans
Savannah Wuitschick played all 60 minutes in goal and faced 21 shots. The Cobbers allowed one goal after facing five shots.
The Spartans will continue their road schedule on Nov. 3-4 when they travel to Angola, Ind. to play Trine University at Thunder Ice Arena. UD's first ever home game will be on Tuesday, Dec, 5 when they host Saint Mary's University at 5:15 p.m. at ImOn Arena in Dubuque.
