ST. PETER, Minn. - The University of Dubuque men's hockey fought back from an 0-2 deficit on Saturday to end the game in a 2-2 tie against the Gustavus Adolphus College Golden Gusties.
Trailing 0-2 in the second period, the Spartans
Thomas Gazich scored the team's first goal of the day on a power-play at 2:48 of the second period from assists from
Langley Kruggel and
Patrick Toomey. Six minutes later,
Ethan Lang scored at 8:25 to even the game at 2-2 after assists from
Jonathon Lush and
Alex Walsh. The Spartans finished with seven shots in the first period, 12 shots in the second, eight shots in the third, and one in fourth. UD ended the game winning 20-56 faceoffs with
Tye Evans winning 8-14.
The Golden Gusties fired 13 shots in the opening period, seven in the second and third periods, and two in the fourth. They won 36-56 faceoffs and were called for four penalties.
Dakota Meyer played 65:00 minutes in goal and faced 27 shots (12 in the first, six in the second, seven in the third, and two in the fourth).The Spartans pressured the Golden Gusties into 26 saves in the game.
UD's Grant Ellings Artem Korolev both collected five shots and 16 student-athletes finished the day with a shot.
The Spartans 0-1-1 continue their season on Tuesday ay UW-River Falls at 7:05 p.m. UD will return home on Friday, Nov. 3 vs. Trine University at ImOn Arena in Dubuque at 7:30 p.m. UD will continue the two game series on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m.
