Spartans Score in Road Loss to UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's hockey lost on the road to UW-River Falls by a 1-3 margin on Tuesday night. The Spartans 0-2-1 overall, return to Dubuque for their home debut on Friday, Nov. 3 when they host Trine University at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students, and $3 for youth and can be purchased at the door (cash only).

The Spartans lone goal was scored by Brandon Rossetti at 11:02 of the third period off assists by Ethan Lang and Alex Walsh. The two teams began with no goals in the opening period despite five Spartans shots and 20 shots by the hosts. Twenty Spartans saw action in the loss with the duo of Max Messier and Patrick Toomey finishing the night with three shots each. UD compiled 20 shots as a team. UD pulled their goalie in the final two minutes and would hit the pipe after a shot by Charles Levis in the final minute of play.

Chris Curr played 57:56 in goal and compiled a season high 39 saves for a .912 save percentage. UD's offense forced the Falcons goalie into 21 saves in 60 minutes of action. Phil Schader grabbed two of the team's six blocks. UD won 23 and lost 34 faceoffs. Patrick Toomey won 11 and lost nine. Tye Evans won six and lost five. The two squads would both hold four power-plays and neither team could take advantage. Each team was called for four penalties with each being two minute minors.

The Spartans look to host their first series at ImOn Arena when Trine University travels to Dubuque for a weekend series on Friday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 2:00 p.m.
