DUBUQUE, Iowa - Already clinching a spot in the American Rivers Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, the University of Dubuque men's soccer team came into tonight with many different scenarios up for grabs to determine seeding. The Spartans would score late to defeat the Luther College Norse and secure the #3 seed for Saturday's opening round game.
Heading into tonight a win would get the Spartans an opening round home game no matter what happened elsewhere in the conference. A tie/loss would mean either the #4 seed or at worse the #5 seed and traveling on the road the opening round game. The Spartans would make it easy tonight for the what if game as
Drew Wisdom drove home a goal in the late stages of the game with only three minutes remaining.
Brandon Kaup was in on the assist for the game winning goal by the Spartans.
The Spartans had 11 shots (4 on goal) compared to only six shots (2 on goal) for the Norse. The Norse did not have a shot on goal for a majority of the game thanks to the Spartans defense. The Norse did have six corner kick opportunities whereas the Spartans only managed two.
Christoffer Rastock had two saves in goal tonight in the full 90 minutes.
The Spartans finish the regular season 7-8-2 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.
