Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DUBUQUE, Iowa – The UD River City Classic continued Saturday as the Spartans took on the Knox College Prairie Fire in game one where they would sweep the Prairie Fire (25-12, 25-20, 25-20) to collect their first victory of the season. The Spartans would follow up the first game with yet another sweep as they took down Wisconsin Lutheran (25-13, 25-21, 25-18).

Game 1
Coming into game one, the Spartans were desperately looking to get into the win column for the first time in three games. The Spartans would use a strong run late in the opening set to grab the early 1-0 advantage. The Spartans had an attacking percentage of .348 (best of the season thus far) and collected 10 kills in the set. The Spartans would fall behind early in the second set 10-15 before using a 15-5 run to take a commanding 2-0 lead. The Spartans would then grab a quick lead in set three and cruise to their first victory of the season sweeping the Prairie Fire.

Emma Powell led the way for the Spartans collecting 10 kills in three sets. Alexis Bedier, Payton Uptagraft, and Ashlee Adler each added five kills. Alana McDermott and Powell each reached double figures in digs with 14 and 12 respectively. The Spartans finished the three-set match with an attacking percentage of .275 (36-91).

Game 2
After earning the first victory of the season, the Spartans took on the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in the final game of the UD River City Classic. The UD faithful would be in full force in the opening set as they helped the Spartans gain momentum throughout the set to take a 1-0 lead after beating the Warriors 25-13. In the second set the Spartans led by as many as 11 before winning the set 25-21. Looking for yet another sweep, the Spartans would never trail in the closing set to secure the victory 3-0.
The Spartans and Warriors would finish the three-set match with 12 ties and 4 lead changes. Powell would continue her dominate day as she led the Spartans in game two with 10 kills and 11 digs. The Spartans collected nine serve aces and assisted on 31-35 attacks.
