DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football team was held scoreless on Saturday, in a 0-25 loss to the visiting Wartburg College Knights.
UD was hampered with five interceptions, four by starter
Ben Gultig and one by
K.C. Moore in the loss. The game was dominated by defensive efforts by both teams. The Spartans were unable to flip the field and the Knights took advantage of the short field for most of their scores.
K.C. Moore led the attack in the air with 13-26 attempts for 102 yards with his longest being from 20 yards out.
Kallion Buckner led the running with eight rushes for 35 yards.
Todd Simmons caught seven passes for 69 yards,
Za'Cameron Brice grabbed eight passes for 39 yards.
Defensively,
Brock Carter led with six solos, one assisted tackles, and a pass break-up.
CJ Dean grabbed six tackles and a quarterback hurry. The Spartans finished with three sacks,
Jacob Garlick (1-9 yards),
Jerome Wilson (1-10 yards), and
Garrett Hertzfeldt (1-9 yards).
The Spartans return to the road for a match-up on Oct. 1 at Buena Vista University at 1 p.m. BVU beat the Luther College Norse in an offensive shootout 52-49 and totaled 534 yards of offense in the victory.
