GALESBURG, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team hit the road for the first time this season as they took on the Knox College Prairie Fire from the Midwest Conference. Coming off their home opener victory last night defeating Monmouth College, the Spartan defense yet again forced a shutout tonight defeating the Prairie Fire 2-0. 

The first half would be a quiet one for the Spartans as they were unable to score a goal despite seven shots in the opening 45 minutes. The Spartans did not have to wait long in the second half as Ruben Kalombo found Josh Krenger for the first goal of the game in the 47th minute. The Spartans would add an insurance goal nearly 15 minutes later when Gavin Woolridge found the back of the net off a Liam Persson pass to make the score 2-0 and cruise to victory. 

Matt Marchiori got the start tonight in goal for the Spartans as he played the full 90 minutes collecting three saves. Emil Joseffson was accurate with his shots tonight as all three were on goal. The Spartans played a deep lineup tonight as they played 23 with many playing double digit minutes.
