Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

North Central Offense Overpowers Spartans

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - This weekend would continue to be a busy one for the University of Dubuque men's soccer team as they would play their second game in as many days. The Spartans took home the victory over Elmhurst yesterday, but on Sunday the North Central Cardinals offense would be too much for the Spartans falling to the Cardinals 3-1 to move to 4-3-1 on the year.

The Cardinals offense would start strong with a goal in the early part of the first half at the 7th minute before answering again in the 23rd minute to take a 2-0 throughout the rest of the first half and into the halftime break. The Cardinal offense would start the second half just like they did the first scoring quick to increase their lead to 3-0. The Spartans would score their lone goal in the 77th minute by Drew Wisdom off a penalty goal kick.

Despite the loss, the Spartans shot 13 times with seven on goal compared to 11 shots for the Cardinals with five on goal. The Spartans had four corner kick opportunities, but were unable to get a clean look at the goal. Goal scorer, Wisdom was active on the offensive end with six shots which was a game-high. Gavin Wooldridge had three total shots and two on goal. Matt Marchiori played all 90 minutes in goal allowing three goals and collecting two saves.
