WAUKESHA, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team trailed early and were unable to battle back in a 1-3 loss to Carroll University on Wednesday night.
A balanced stat sheet with as each team finished the night with 14 shots and six shots on goal, the difference was the score.
Noah Hook led the Spartans with four shots and one on goal, the Spartans lone score of the night off an assist by
Josh Krenger at 78:07 to cut the Pioneer lead to just a goal. Three minutes later the host Pioneers would add a third goal to extend the advantage to a pair of goals as time ended.
Gavin Wooldridge,
Jakub Youngstrom, and
Josh Aboagye would all finish with two shots each.
Matt Marchiori suffered the loss after facing 14 shots and collecting a trio of saves in the loss. UD was held to a lone corner kick and was called offsides five times. Eighteen Spartans saw action on Wednesday night.
UD will travel to face a tough Elmhurst squad on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m., competition doesn't get any easier when they face North Central College on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. in Naperville, Ill.
