Spartans Defeat Northwestern, Remain Perfect in MLC

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team remained perfect on Saturday afternoon in Midwest lacrosse Conference play as they took down conference opponent, the University of Northwestern (MN) Eagles 12-4 on the road. The Spartans jump to 8-7 on the season and 4-0 in MLC action sitting alone in first place as the only undefeated team in the conference. 

After an opening quarter where neither team found the back of the net, the Spartans would jump out to a 3-1 halftime lead. The Spartans would then begin to show their offensive attack we have seen over the last few week as they put up five goals in the third, followed by four goals in the fourth to finish with a eight score differential by a final score of 12-4. 

Ben Farraday nearly had half of the Spartans goals finding the back of the net five times. Aidan Culligan scored four times and had two assists. Gavin Hughes led the team with three assists. The Spartans shot the ball on goal 20-44 (.455) and forced 28 Eagles turnovers. Spartans won 12-19 face offs and collected 32 ground balls. Ryan Gartner added win number eight on the season collecting nine saves.

The Spartans return to Oyen Field for their final two games of the regular season when they take on Cornell College on Wednesday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. and the finale on Saturday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. against Northland College.
