DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball hosted the Loras College Duhawks on Tuesday afternoon on Dan. W. Runkle Baseball Field and captured the American Rivers Conference contest 7-1.
The Spartans scored seven runs in seven hits and committed one error while the visiting Duhawks were held to one run in seven hits while committing three errors.
Aiden Sullivan started on the mound and would collect the win after tossing six innings and allowing just one earned run with four strikeouts.
Derek Hardin came in for relief and would collect a save after three innings of work and allowing just two hits with one strikeout.
Offensively the Spartans were led by
Cole DeStefanis who went 2-4 and scored twice and
Colton Pfeifer who went 2-3 with a game high three RBI's. Both teams turned two double plays. UD left six runners on base and the Duhawks stranded seven runners on base.
The Spartans will travel to Pella, Iowa on Good Friday April 15 for a nine inning game beginning at 3 p.m. The two teams will finish the series on Saturday, April 16 with doubleheader beginning at noon.
