DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team ended their regular season with a win over the visiting Luther College Norse 57-44 in front of a good crowd on Senior Day in Stoltz Sports Center. Fans attending the first round of the 2022 American Rivers Conference Tournament which begins on Tuesday, Feb. 22 will watch the same two teams compete again. The Spartans captured the #4 seed and will host the #5 seed Norse in the quarterfinals of the tournament at 7:00 p.m. on Jon Davison Court.
The Spartans swept Luther during the season winning at Luther 68-48 and 57-44 in Dubuque. On Saturday, UD trailed at halftime 26-30, but would hold the Norse to just 14 points in the final half. UD out scored Luther in the second half 31-14. Seniors
Allison Bailey and
Miah Smith would finish with 13 points and seven points respectiively. Bailey grabbed eight rebounds and Smith had five. UD's offense was led by
Tabria Thomas, who ended the afternoon with 18 points and six rebounds. UD's bench scored eight points and the Norse's bench scored seven.
Karsen Kershner blocked five shots and has the third best season in school history with 78 blocks. She has 91 blocks for her career and currently ranks 5th in the nation in NCAA Division III rankings.
