PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball extended their win streak to six games on Wednesday against Buena Vista University at home in Stoltz Sports Center. On Saturday, the Spartans had the streak stopped by the Central College Dutch 58-68.

UD fell behind early and struggled to find their rhythm on the road. The Spartans trailed 20-32 at halftime and would out score the Dutch 38-36 in the second half. Central dominated the inside and finished with 38 points in the paint. Central led by as many as 15 points with 4:20 to go and out rebounded UD 48-33. The Dutch collected 38 defensive rebounds. The Spartans defense forced the hosts into committing 19 turnovers, but were only able to convert them into 10 points. UD made 18-64 attempts from the field (28.1%), 9-31 from the outside (29%), and 13-20 free throw attempts (65%).

Just two Spartans would finish the game in double-digit scoring. Sam Kilburg and Jaylin McCants both score 14 points in the loss. Leading scorer in 2022-23 for UD, Brock Simon, was held to just six points and 1-6 shooting from the field after facing Dutch pressure all evening. Keegan Zimmerman came off the bench to score nine points and a team high three steals.

UD (6-2 overall, 2-1 in American Rovers Conference) will host Augustana College on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the "BlueOut" game. The Spartans return to A-R-C action next Saturday when they host the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves at 4:00 p.m.
