DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball captured another home victory on Saturday after a 73-52 win on Jon Davison Court. UD grabbed an early first quarter lead 27-12 and led for 35:04 of the contest and moved to 3-1 in American Rivers Conference play.
UD forced the visiting Prairiewolves into committing 22 turnovers and scored 27 points. The Spartans worked the ball inside and finished with 44 points in the paint. UD ended the game with singe digit turnovers with nine and allowed NWU to score just four points off the miscues. UD shot well and sank 29-71 attempts from the field (40.8%), 5-17 from beyond the three point area (29.4%), and made 10-18 free throw attempts.
Scoring was monopolized by the Spartans
Tabria Thomas who ended the afternoon with a game high 29 points, 29 points was what the Prairiewolves had at halftime of the game. Thomas scored on 12-18 attempts from the field and was 3-5 at the line.
Morgan Hawkins added 13 points and led the team with nine rebounds.
Lauren Livingston and
Kathleen Mathias led the team with six defensive boards.
Isabella Tierney stole four balls as UD finished the day with 17 steals. Mathias and
Mia Miller would both finish with five assists.
UD (6-4 overall) will travel to face non-conference Milwaukee School of Engineering on Friday, December 16 at 5:00 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, December 17 to play University of Northwestern (MN) at 1:00 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
