Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Spartans Defensive Battle With Wartburg Ends With 0-0 Draw in Men's Soccer

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The lone senior and captain for the Spartans, Lucas Von Braun celebrated Senior Day today as the University of Dubuque men's soccer took on a tough Wartburg College Knights team. The defensive side of the ball would be the focus throughout the game as neither offense could get a good look to end in a scoreless draw.

Von Braun, Noah Hook, and Lukas Sandanger would get the only shots on goal for the Spartans, but all three would be unable to shoot passed the Knights goalie. Matt Marchiori and the Spartan defense would be active tonight as the Knights would get off 14 shots including five on goal, but like the Spartans were unable to capitalize. Marchiori finished with five saves in the game.

Throughout the 90 minutes of action, the Spartans were held to one corner kick and recorded eight fouls. Three Spartans were a little too aggressive as they received yellow cards.

The Spartans move to 6-4-3 overall and 2-0-2 in conference play.
