Storm Shuts Out Spartans in Road Finale

INDIANAOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team was looking to make a last push to move up in the A-R-C standings with many teams within a few points of each other. The Spartans would take on the top team in the conference, Simpson College Storm on Saturday. The Storm would push past the Spartans on their home turf winning by a 4-0 shutout.

The Storm would make quick work in the scoring column as they got the early 1-0 lead three minutes in and would tack on an additional goal to lead 2-0 at the break. The Spartan defense would hold strong throughout much of the second half, but the Storm would mange two more goals late in the final five minutes to win 4-0.

The Spartans were limited on the offensive side of the ball as they were held to only five shots and one on goal. With the Storm possessing the ball on their offensive end for most of the game, the Spartans were only given one corner kick. Fouls would be split evenly between both teams with nine each.

Matt Marchiori played the full 90 minutes in goal giving up four goals and saving seven shots.
