Men's Soccer Ends Non-Conference Schedule With Road Win at Saint Mary's

WINONA, Minn. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team concluded their non-conference competition on Tuesday night as they traveled to Saint Mary's (Minn.) University and took home the shutout victory 2-0.

Offense has been hard to come by for the Spartans had gone their previous three games without scoring a goal. Tonight against Saint Mary's that would change right before halftime as Gavin Wooldridge found an open Emil Josefsson to give the Spartans the 1-0 halftime lead. Nearly 20 minutes into the second half, the Spartans would double their lead when Jakub Youngstrom would score his first goal of the season off a pass from Jose Serra who also recorded his first assist on the season as well.

Drew Wisdom was active tonight on the offensive end for the Spartans with five shots (three on goal) and Connor Dunne added three shots (two on goal). For the first time this season, Nic Hubbard was in goal for the Spartans as he posted a shutout and recorded his first five saves of the season playing the entire 90 minutes.

The Spartans finished the night with 13 of their 16 shots on goal and were granted eight corner kick opportunities. The Spartans fouled the opposition nine times compared to only seven fouls committed by Saint Mary's.

The Spartans now move to 7-5-4 overall and will finish their final two games in conference play.
