LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team (6-5-4, 2-1-3) was unable to score against the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves (5-6-2, 3-1-1) as they lost their first conference game of the season 1-0.
The Spartans defense has been outstanding the previous four games holding their opponents without a score. Tonight the Spartans defense was great again, but the one goal given up would be the difference as the Spartans are unable to score for the third straight game. Nebraska Wesleyan would score the lone goal at the 36:00 minute mark.
The Spartans played 22 tonight in the loss as
Gavin Wooldridge and
Drew Wisdom each had three shots (one on goal).
Lucas Von Braun was on goal with both of his shots and
Dante Martinez played only 12 minutes and was able to shoot twice.
Matt Marchiori allowed one goal tonight in 90 minutes in goal and only the second goal allowed in conference play this season. The Spartans outshoot Nebraska Wesleyan by one shot whereas Nebraska Wesleyan was given one extra corner kick opportunity.
