PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team traveled for a road contest against the Central College Dutch in what was a makeup game that was supposed to be played earlier this season. The Spartans entered the contest with a seven game winning streak and would extend the streak to eight as they took down the Dutch 70-46 to move to 9-1 in conference play.
The Spartans would trail 1-3 early on in the first half, but a
Peter Ragen basket followed by a layup from
Brock Simon gave the Spartans the lead at 5-3. The Spartans would never trail again in the contest. The Spartans went on an 11-0 run at the midway point of the first half to increase their lead before going into half up 38-24. The Spartans would come out in the second half with the foot on the gas as they would continue to hold the Dutch offense to under 35% shooting and the Spartans continued the get the ball in the paint and score. The Spartans would hold the Dutch to only four points in the final four minutes to grab a 70-46 victory on the road.
The Spartans were led in scoring by
Peter Ragen who put up 18 points.
Jaylin McCants and
Dylan Anderson also scored in double figures adding 12 and 10 respectively. The Spartans outscored the Dutch in the paint 36-16 and the bench provided a spark for the Spartans getting 34 points from the bench.

The Spartans return home for a Wednesday, February 2 conference contest against the Buena Vista University Beavers where they will look to extend their winning streak to nine games. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
