Women's Basketball Coast to 95-58 Win Over Dutch

PELLA, Iowa --- The University of Dubuque women's basketball team (11-7, 5-4) traveled to A-R-C foe the Central College Dutch (2-9, 0-5) for their second meeting of the season. In the first matchup, the Spartans would get the home win 65-53. The Spartans would be coming in to the weekend match-up looking to sweep the Dutch in the regular season. The Spartans would dominate every aspect of the game and get the 95-58 victory in crushing fashion. 

The Spartans would waste no time as they would go on their best scoring run, where they would jump out to a 18-5 lead with 3:08 left in the first quarter. The Spartans would have a low scoring second quarter, but would outscore the Dutch by five in the second quarter to take a 42-27 lead into halftime. Opening up the second half, the Spartans would open the game wide open as they would go on to expand their lead to 32 heading into the fourth. The Spartans would get their biggest lead of the game with 1:26 remaining in the game before the Spartans would take the victory 95-58. 

In the blowout win, 15 Spartans would see the court and 11 of them would find the scoring column. Leading the way was Allison Bailey who scored 26 points on 8-11 shooting, 4-5 from behind the arc, and 6-7 from the free throw line. Tabria Thomas would add 18 and Karsen Kershner had 16. The Spartans would record an incredible 37 points off of 28 Dutch turnovers. As a team the Spartans would shoot 37-79 (46.8%) from the field and knocked down 12 of their 17 free throw attempts. 

The Spartans will hit the road again in the middle of next week as they travel to Waverly to take on the #13 ranked Wartburg College Knights with tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
