Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Men's Basketball To Win Over Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa - After a two-hour delay in the start of tonight's game due to last nights winter storm, the University of Dubuque men's basketball team (11-5 Overall, 6-1 A-R-C) took the home floor as they hosted the Simpson College Storm (4-10 Overall, 1-4 A-R-C). The Spartans are currently riding a four-game winning streak and looked to continue the momentum on Saturday night.

The Spartans would start quick as they went on a 7-0 run to start the game and forced an early Storm timeout. The Storm would respond out of the timeout and get the Spartan lead to as little as two before the Spartans would use a late run to take a 36-28 lead at the halftime break. In the second half, the Spartans would lead by as many as 25 points with 2:26 to go in the second half and would end this game in the win column by a final score of 69-48, pushing their win streak to five games.

Four Spartans reached double figures tonight with Peter Ragen leading the charge with 13 on 5-11 shooting. Jaylin McCants added 12 on 4-9 shooting. Sam Kilburg and Brock Simon each added 11 points on the night. The Spartans forced a season high 21 turnovers and would translate those into 25 points. The Spartans defense was excellent tonight as they held the Storm to only 48 points which is the lowest an opponent has scored on the Spartans this season.

The Spartans ride their five game winning streak into Decorah next Wednesday night, January 19 with a matchup against the Luther College Norse at 7:30 p.m.
