DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team struggled to find their offense on Wednesday night and ended the evening with 16 made baskets in a 46-60 loss at home to the Loras College Duhawks.
The Spartans were 16-50 from the field for 32% while the Duhawks sank 21-60 attempts. The big difference in the scoring was the hot shooting Duhawks from the three point area who made 13 of 32 attempts. The Spartans made 4-18 from beyond the three point arc (22.2%). The Spartans trailed in rebounding 29-37 and UD's bench was out scored 21-10.
Allison Bailey ended the evening as the Spartans lone double figure scorer with 15 points.
Kathleen Mathias led UD in rebounding with nine and
Karsen Kershner led the game with five blocks and seven rebounds. Loras committed 17 turnovers and UD turned this miscues into 16 points. UD has 12 players make an appearance and finished with eight in the scoring column.
UD will host Saturday the top-ranked #7 Simpson College.Simpson women's basketball team which beat Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday by a 94-54 road victory. The win is the Storm's 10th in a row and 15th consecutive American Rivers Conference win. Simpson has now posted back-to-back wins of 40 or more points when they face the Spartans on Saturday.
