PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team would split at the Central/Grinnell College Invitational on Saturday. UD opened the morning with a 3-2 win over Elmhurst College. The Spartans would fall to UW-Stout in the afternoon contest by a score of 0-3.
Against Elmhurst College
Emma Powell led with 18 kills,
Darby Hawtrey finished with 15 and
Julie May had nine. Hawtrey led the team with four aces and 20 digs.
Kate Messino collected 38 assists and
Emily Swanson, May would both compile three blocks in the win.
In the loss to UW-Stout, the Spartans Hawtrey led with 10 kills, Powell had seven and May three.
Ashlee Adler collected a pair of aces, and Hawtrey had two blocks. Powell led with 12 defensive digs and
Kate Messino finished with 14 assists.
The Spartans play host to UW-Platteville on Sept 8 in Stoltz Sports Center at 7 p.m.
