Men's Soccer Rebound from Loss to Open A-R-C with Road Victory

WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Spartan men's soccer team were on the road on Saturday night to face the Knights of Wartburg College and were in search of a much-needed victory to bring back to Dubuque. Under the lights, the Spartans would come out on top of the Knights in dramatic fashion to cap off a 3-2 come from behind victory. The returning A-R-C champions started where they left off last spring by winning in league action.

The Spartans would battle the hosts for a little more than 80 minutes of the game without a goal and trailing 0-2. UD found their mojo and in the 80th minute. The Spartans flipped the script as they would score three late goals and all were scored by Joel Skog-Johansson in the last 10 minutes of the game. Watching in disbelief, the Knights gave up the game winning goal in the final minute of action. Eloi Niyibizi, Gloire Luwara, and Darren Gray would each add an assist. The Spartans would tally 14 shots for the game and 10 corner kicks. In goal, Christoffer Rastock got the win and had one save.

The Spartans return home on Tuesday for a match-up with Elmhurst University at Oyen Field with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff.
