Women's Soccer Score Winning Goal in First Half

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team shutout Grinnell College 1-0 in their home opener Wednesday night.

The Spartans grabbed the lead when freshman Emerson Wilson found Brooke Brodzinski (Jr.) off a free kick in the 30th minute making the game 1-0. Freshman goalkeeper, Cadence Martindale, earned the shutout with five saves for the night in her first collegiate victory.

The visiting Pioneers were unable to overcome the Spartan defense and were held to one shot in the second half. UD fired off 15 shots total during the game with 10 of those shots being on goal.

The Spartans take to the road this weekend against Bethel University onSaturday, Sept. 4 at 4:00 p.m.
