MONMOUTH, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team scored first on Friday afternoon at Monmouth College, but it was the hosts who led early in the second half. The Spartans would capture the win with goals around the 70th and 80th minute to collect the road victory 3-2.
Emma Kober scored the first goal of the game off an assist by
Brooke Brodzinski at 17:06. Monmouth responded with a goal at 33:42 to knot the contest at 1-1. The hosts scored quickly in the second half at 52:40 to grab their first lead of the day. Moly Schiltz would tie the match at 69:24 off an assist by Abby Weigand. UD re-captured the lead and eventual win after a second goal by Kober at 70:59. She led with six shots and five on goal. The Spartans finished with 15 shots and held Monmouth to 10 shots. UD led in corner kicks 8-3.
Cadence Martindale earned the win in the net after making two saves. The Spartans return home on Sept. 15 when they host UW-Oshkosh at 6 p.m. on Oyen Field.
