DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team finished Tuesday afternoon with a split against the Rockford University Regents, winning the opener 9-2 before losing the nightcap 7-8.
In game one, the Spartans collected nine runs in 12 hits with two errors and held the Regents to two runs off eight hits and an error.
Callie Dutton led the offense with a 3-3 plate appearance, she finished with two RBI's and scored three runs. Four Spartans finished with two hits. Leadoff

Morgan Turnmire 2-3 with an RBI, designated player
Rachel Trader went 2-3 with a team high three RBI's, and
Alyanna Martinez was 2-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
Lexi Schmidt earned her 14th win of the season after facing 34 batters and allowing one earned run with four strikeouts.
In the second game, UD out hit the Regents, but would lose in the scoring column. The Spartans scored seven runs off 15 hits with an error. UD held the visitors in check until the fifth inning when they scored five runs to take their second lead of the day. UD rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two runs and left the tying and winning run on base.
The big hitter was
Morgan Turnmire who was 3-3 and homered in the bottom of the fifth inning to left field as the lead off batter. She was one of three Spartans to send the ball over the fence.
Emily Bloomer collected two RBI's in the third inning after she connected for a deep hit over the right field fence (2-4).
Lauren Brown in the bottom of the sixth inning added the third Spartans homerun of the game with a shot over left field (2-4).
Cayla Cavanagh was 2-4 with an RBI and
Kylee Biedermann 2-4 with a pair of singles.
Deanna Salerno pitch hit and would end the day with two RBI's.
Nicolette Evans took the loss after 11 hits, seven earned runs, faced 35 batters, and struck out four.
The Spartans stay at home for their final American Rivers Conference series of the regular season with a three game match-up with the Simpson College Storm. UD will play a doubleheader on Friday, May 7 beginning at 3 p.m. The final game of the series will be on Saturday, May 8 at 1 p.m.
