Lincoln, Neb. - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team picked up a crucial conference win at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday in a thrilling 2-1 win on the road.
The Spartans controlled the game early, firing off three shots before
Draek Littler broke through for the Spartans with a goal in the 32nd minute. UD would get three more shots off before the end of the half but had no luck securing a goal on any of them.
The two teams felt each other out for most of the second half, with Nebraska Wesleyan breaking through first in the half to tie the game at the 83:12 point of the second half to even things at 1-1. Thankfully, the Spartans did not waste much time to respond when
Mathias Ericsson banged home the game winning goal for the Spartans just over two minutes later at the 85:44 mark.Â
UD was able to hold the Prairie Wolves from getting a shot off over the final four plus minutes to secure their second straight conference win in thrilling fashion.
Brandon White secured another win in net for the Spartans with two saves of 90 minutes in net.
The Spartans host their crosstown rival Loras on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. No general admission will be allowed.
