DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball would jump out to an early 8-0 only to see it fade with seven errors in a nine inning loss 10-11 against the Loras College Duhawks on Thursday. It was the Duhawks second win of the year (2-20 overall) as the Spartans fell to 18-12 overall.
UD would drive the ball deep and finished with three homeruns, but seven errors would allow the host Duhawks to rally back.
Emily Bloomer homered to centerfield into a strong 20 mph wind in the first inning and collected three RBI's. Not to be outdone was teammate
Alyanna Martinez who would also homer in the first inning with two on base when she sent the ball over the left field fence for three RBI's.
Morgan Turnmire would direct a solo shot to centerfield in the top of the ninth inning.
Three Spartans would end the afternoon with two hits.

Lauren Brown all finished with two hits in five at bats. The Spartans finished with 10 runs in 11 hits and would leave seven on base in the loss.
Lexi Schmidt pitched 4.1 innings and allowed six earned runs iff eight hits.
Nicolette Evans tossed four innings and would allow just one earned run while she faced 24 batters.
A busy schedule for the Spartans who travel to Buena Vista University (15-14 overall) on Friday, April 30 for a doubleheader before returning home for Saturday's graduation. They will travel on Sunday, May 2 for the final game of the series at noon. Monday, May 3 UD will travel to Benedictine University (23-11 overall) for one varsity game at 2:30 p.m. followed by a JV contest. Tuesday, May 4 the Spartans host Rockford University (19-13 overall) at 2/4 p.m.
