ELMHURST, Ill. - The University of Dubuque lacrosse team has faced a gauntlet of a schedule so far in conference play and that would continue on Wednesday as the Spartans would fall victim to the Elmhurst Blue Jays, 15-7.
Elmhurst scored the first goal of the game just three and a half minutes in but
Tyler Phipps responded just 80 seconds later to quickly even it up back up at 1-1. However, the Blue Jays would take control after the Phipps goal, scoring eight of the next nine goals to end the first half.
After Elmhurst would push their lead to 13-3 through three quarters, the Spartans would find a bit of a flow, outscoring the Blue Jays 4-2 in the final quarter to make the final score 15-7.
Tanner Weis did a majority of the Spartans scoring on Wednesday, coming up with four goals on eight shots.
Tyler Phipps,
Zach Turpen and
Will Robinson would each add one goal as well.Â
In the Spartans four conference games, their four opponents have a combined record of 32-9.
UD returns home for their final home game of the season on Saturday, playing host to Carroll at 1 p.m. for Senior Day.
