DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's basketball battled #12 Wartburg College Knights in the American Rivers Conference opener on Tuesday night. UD led 15-11 after the first period, but the Knights rallied and won 69-58.
UD was led by
Tabria Thomas who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Miah Smith had another double digit night in rebounding with 10 with an impressive nine defensive boards.
Isabella Tierney came off the bench to add nine points. A trio of Spartans ended the night with eight points:
Allison Bailey,
Maddie Monge, and
Karsen Kershner.
UD sank 21-58 attempts from the field, was 3-11 from the three point arc, and was 13-20 at the free throw line. Wartburg took advantage off the Spartans miscues and scored 23 points off turnovers. UD scored 30 points in the paint and collected 25 points from their bench players.
UD will continue play at home when they host Mount Mary after the Thanksgiving holiday on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
