INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball broke into the win column Friday night on the road with a much needed 3-0 win over the Simpson College Storm.

The Spartans captured the first set 25-21, cruised through the second set 25-14, before ending the night with a 25-22 win in set three to capture the match. UD hit .209 in the first set, extended the hitting in set two to .308 and slipped to a hitting percentage in set three .130. UD finished with 40 kills in 115 attacks. Emma Powell led with 11 kills trailed by Darby Hawtrey who finished with 10. Kaylynn Murray and Kate Messino would split set assists with 18 an 17 respectively. Murray led the Spartans with two service aces.

A trio of Spartans ended with double digit digs. Abby Smith had 15 as teammates Skylar Mullen finished with 12 and Messino 10.

UD continues their conference season on Saturday against the Central College Dutch in Pella, Iowa.
