Men's Soccer On a Three Game Win Streak

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Spartans came into Saturday afternoon's matchup looking to secure another A-R-C conference win and they would do it in dominating fashion as they were able to control every aspect of the match to come out with a 4-1 victory to move to (6-3-1, 2-0-0) on the season.

In the first half, both teams were getting chippy with each other and in the 12th minute of action a pivotal red card would be placed on a Prairiewolves player which meant for the rest of the game they would be short-handed a man on the field. The Spartans wasted no time as a mere 9 seconds later, Gloire Luwara would score an unassisted goal to give the Spartans an early 1-0 lead. Gloire Luwara would make quick work as he would add another goal in the 16th minute which was assisted by Darren Gray to give the Spartans a comfortable 2-0 lead. The Prairiewolves would add a goal late in the first half to bring the Spartan lead to 2-1. Shortly after the Prairiewolves goal, there would be lightning in the area and the game would be delayed for about an hour and then would resume play to finish out the 1st half.

Moving into the second half, the Spartans were not satisfied. They would extend their lead to 3-1 thanks to a goal from Eloi Niyibizi in the 53rd minute off the pass from Emil Windahl. The Spartans would continue the attack and would score just minutes later from none other than Gloire Luwara to attain a hat trick on the night. The Spartans would control the rest of the game and take the match by a final score of 4-1.

The Spartans would end with as many as fifteen shots on goal. They would add eleven corner kicks to 0 for the opponent. Christoffer Rastock would play most of the game in goal to get the win and would end with a goal allowed and one save.

The Spartans travel down the road for a crosstown rivalry matchup with the Loras College Duhawks on Wednesday, October 6 at 7:30 p.m.
