DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque wrestling team opened their American Rivers Conference dual meet season against a tough #2-ranked Wartburg College Knights and lost 6-37. The original A-R-C Triangular hosted by Luther College was postponed late Friday and UD and Wartburg would complete a dual meet on Saturday in the river city.
The Spartans would collect one win at 285 lbs. weight class when Daryl Aiello made quick work of Eli Parnell in a 46 seconds fall to end the afternoon. UD falls to 0-1 overall and 0-1 in A-R-C action. The Knights would collect extra points in six of the 10 matches to prove their top ranking. UD's
Zarik Anderson was the lone ranked Spartan, #7 in latest NWCA Coaches poll announced on Jan. 21.
UD will travel to Pella, Iowa next week for the A-R-C Central Triangular with UD, Nebraska Wesleyan University, and Central College. UD will wrestle Nebraska Wesleyan at 1 p.m. and Central at 4:30 p.m.
