University of Dubuque

Hello I'm Sparty, the official University of Dubuque mascot. I will appear at athletics events, alumni, and other special events. I gained my name in the early 1930's. The moniker was first used with the men's basketball team in 1931-32. The football team adopted the name in 1933. Prior to that, the campus was known as "blue and white" and informally in 1917 as the "Bulldogs".
