Carissa Berendes rejoined the University of Dubuque in 2024 as an assistant athletic trainer, covering men’s soccer, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, and softball. She previously worked at UD from 2015–2018 before returning to her alma mater, UW–Green Bay, to support women’s soccer and swim & dive.
After time off to focus on her young children, Carissa returned to Dubuque in 2021 when her husband joined the local fire department. She resumed PRN work at UD in 2023 before transitioning to full-time in 2024.
Carissa holds a BS in Human Biology–Exercise Science from UW–Green Bay and an MS in Athletic Training from The College of St. Scholastica. She is NATA BOC Certified, licensed in Iowa, and certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and Graston Technique.
A Green Bay native, she now lives in Dubuque with her husband, two kids, and two dogs. Outside of work, she enjoys fitness, golf, and family time outdoors or traveling to see loved ones.
