Started all 12 of his appearances on the mound.. Over 73.0 innings pitched, he accumulated a 4.68 ERA, allowing 38 earned runs.. He would come up with 58 strikeouts to just 18 walks..

2020 (Senior, Cut Short Due to COVID-19)
Nelson pitched in three games in the shortened season, all three appearances being starts. Nelson went 0-1 and over 20 innings pitched, he surrendered 20 runs, 16 of which were earned for a 9.60 ERA. He struck out 12 batters, whiling giving up 20 hits and walking seven opposing hitters. 

2019 (Junior)
In 2019, Nelson appeared in 12 games on the mound with 10 starts, going 5-4. Over his 12 appearances he accumulated a 3.31 ERA after giving up just 24 earned runs over 65 1/3 innings pitched. He fanned 52 batters while walking just 16 and grabbed two complete games

2018 (Sophomore)
Nelson had 10 appearances, mostly out of the bullpen in 2018. He amassed a GPA of 4.50 over 28 IP after giving up just 14 earned runs, while striking out 17.

2017 (Freshman)
As a freshman, Nelson pitched in just one game for one inning.
